Give to Gain: How 77 Companies Honored Women's History Month

Percent Pledge
Community Volunteer Event

During one of our monthly virtual Community Volunteer Events, 205 employee volunteers from 77 companies came together for our Women's History Month — and spent one hour doing something that matters.

They reviewed resumes from high school girls enrolled in the Girls With Impact program, providing real feedback to help young women build professional skills and confidence as they enter the workforce.

No planning required. No prep. Just one hour and immediate impact.

Why Teams Showed Up

Women's History Month is a time to celebrate women's contributions — but also to invest in what comes next.

Remote and hybrid teams needed an event that was accessible, meaningful, and easy to join. This one delivered:

  • A fully virtual opportunity for distributed teams.
  • A direct way to support young women entering the workforce.
  • A shared experience aligned with Women's History Month and International Women's Day's 2026 theme: "Give To Gain."

Inside the Event

Hosted live on Zoom, the event brought together employees from across time zones for a focused, one-hour session.

Nonprofit Spotlight: Girls With Impact

Every Community Volunteer Event opens with a presentation from the nonprofit partner. It's one of our favorite parts.

Before volunteers picked up a single resume, Jayla Thomas took the floor. Jayla is a Girls With Impact program alumna, a current staff member, and a small business owner — living proof of what the program makes possible.

She shared her own journey through Girls With Impact: what the program gave her, how it shaped her path, and why the work volunteers were about to do matters more than they might realize. For many high school girls, having a professional review their resume isn't just helpful — it's a first.

Her presentation grounded the work. Volunteers didn't just know what they were doing. They knew why.

It also gave Girls With Impact the chance to introduce themselves to a room of 100+ employees from companies across the country — the kind of audience that can become long-term partners, donors, and advocates.

The Work: Resume Reviews for Girls With Impact

With that context in hand, volunteers got to it. Each person selected a resume from a Girls With Impact student and provided written feedback — covering format, content, and how to present accomplishments. The kind of practical, specific guidance that's hard to find and easy to underestimate.

The quality of the submissions stopped more than a few volunteers in their tracks.

This was a cool experience. For being so young, I was really impressed with how accomplished the submitters were! I hope my feedback was useful.
Matthew @ ActivTrak
It is hard to find resumes getting reviewed professionally. This was a great opportunity to empower at least one such student.
Suchit @ Customerio
This is such a cool experience for someone that's starting out in the workforce.
Natalia @ Jansport

Several volunteers were moved enough to donate to Girls With Impact after the event ended.

The Impact

  • 205 volunteers from 77 companies participated.
  • Over 225 resumes reviewed in one hour.
  • Multiple volunteers made personal donations to Girls With Impact following the event.

One hour. Real feedback. Real impact for young women just getting started.

One Hour. Many Teams. Real Impact.

This Women's History Month event showed how much one hour can do.
