Awareness is everything.
Why your company should support Breast Cancer Awareness Month
1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer over the course of their lifetime, but knowledge and early detection save lives. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and partnering with nonprofits can help raise awareness by educating women on what they can do to be proactive, and raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure.
How your company can support Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The following initiatives were curated by our team of social impact experts that execute thoughtful social impact efforts for our customers every day. Some of these initiatives are easy enough to accomplish internally, but for others, you will need to lean on a social impact program or team.

[1] Donating

Bright Pink

The Lynn Sage Foundation
The Lynn Sage Foundation believes innovative research is key to improving the lives of those diagnosed with breast cancer.
Percent Pledge allows all companies and employees to donate to these nonprofits simultaneously through its Workplace Giving Platform.
[2] Volunteering
Time is invaluable, and volunteering your organization’s time, while inspiring your employees to do the same, is often the greatest gift you can give. It’s the perfect team-building event and can have an incredibly positive impact on your employees and company.
Participate in awareness efforts with The American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society offers lots of great opportunities for your company to raise funds and awareness, including Relay For Life, Road to Recovery, and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
Help cancer survivors move forward with Breast Cancer Now
Breast Cancer Now and volunteers provide support and hope for anyone affected by breast cancer–along their entire journey, through world-class research and life-changing care.
Pack HOPE Kits with The National Breast Cancer Foundation
The National Breast Cancer Foundation is always looking for volunteers to help pack HOPE Kits. The kits are filled with items that patients find soothing and helpful while going through the difficulties of breast cancer treatment. Volunteers can also write encouraging cards to include in their kits.
[3] Awareness comes in all shapes and sizes
Inspire your employees to get involved to raise awareness. No gesture is too small.
Go Pink
Encourage employees to wear pink throughout October to honor survivors, remember those lost to the disease, and support the progress being made to defeat breast cancer.
Participate in a walk or run
The Race for the Cure is organized nationally by Susan G Koman, and all proceeds raised go to cancer research. Find one near you and start your own company team.
Encourage cancer screenings
Lead by example by scheduling your own and implementing an initiative encouraging employees to do the same.
