Leading market research platform Suzy and workplace giving startup Percent Pledge have announced a joint effort to create a coalition of companies — including Namely, letgo, Via, Electric, Slice, Knotel, and Policygenius — that will support tech-related COVID-19 relief efforts in the New York City area.
Called #NYTechCares, the new program will spearhead efforts to provide underprivileged kids with the technology they need to continue their education remotely, in reaction to New York City public school closures that began on March 16 and will last until the end of the school year on June 26.
Participating local businesses will be encouraged to donate laptops, monitors, and other electronic equipment at a tax deduction for fair market values. Companies and individuals may also contribute monetary funds via Percent Pledge to NYTechCares and other COVID relief portfolios, on either a one-time or monthly basis.
“We saw an opportunity to give back by helping the thousands of students in New York who can’t access their schools’ remote learning classes from home,” said Suzy CEO and Founder Matt Britton. “We’re excited to join forces with Percent Pledge and a growing roster of other tech companies to launch #NYTechCares and fill this need within our community.”

At the time of the announcement, NYTechCares has already secured seven founding partners and several local partner charities to accept donations, including Go Project, Harlem Commonwealth Council (HCC), Invisible Hands, and Build NYC.
